X35: The Rebuttal: an analytical and empirical approach to refute any argument. in Carnegie Mellon Splash Spring 2020 (Feb. 29, 2020)
Argumentation an everyday occurance in our lives. However, it is also fundamental to our understanding of the truth, knowledge, and progress. Understanding the fundamentals of an argument allows you to make better ones and also respond to others. Real world applications like “How can you tell which politician is saying the truth?” and “Do you wish to challenge your parents’ tyranny but don’t know how?” will be covered in this course as well. Lesson Objectives: Students will understand the fundamentals of an argument: the claim, warrant, and impact. Students will learn analytical techniques to respond to arguments. Students will learn empirical techniques to respond to arguments. Students will be able to construct their own arguments and respond to it as well.
